Dear Senator Padilla:
My name is Dana and my family and I have worked and lived in county for well over 30 years. In a couple of months I will officially be a senior citizen, and as you know, turning the magic age of 65 gives me the right to sign up for Social Security and Medicare, even if I'm not planning on retiring right away. In fact, I was about to sign up for Medicare last week . . . and then I was apprized of the fact that the entitled billionaire who bought himself an unelected post in the Administration had sent his Gen Z minions into the Treasury and had accessed all the personal information of all the Americans who benefit from payments from the Treasury. If I were to sign up for Medicare, Elon Musk would have all of my data as well, and that's simply not acceptable. I will not share my personal data with either Musk or his team of young lackeys. So what do I do now?
Over the last several weeks, I have been utterly horrified at the piecemeal dismantling of institutions within our government that were established to provide important services to the American people, as well as advance goodwill around the globe. I cannot imagine that anyone in this great nation voted to let starving babies in Sudan die, or other humanitarian aid simply rot in shipping containers because Elon Musk labeled it a "criminal enterprise." I have been dismayed by the speed with which we seem to be hurtling toward a dictatorship; disgusted by the ease with which Elon Musk has inserted himself in the functions of governmental agencies. Regardless of whom the people voted into the presidential office, Elon Musk's name was nowhere on that ballot.
I appreciate your commitment to serve this country. I pray for leaders with integrity and honor every day to lead us back to a path where our values matter and our course is honorable. May you follow that course.
Sincerely,
Dana, CA
