In early February 2025, Jessica Preece was deeply concerned about the state of our country and wanted to organize a peaceful protest. “There are a thousand different ways to use our voices to keep democracy alive,” Preece says, and she wanted to do something that felt uplifting and rooted in joy.

Inspired by generations of women using quilts as a form of political activism, and a quilter herself, Preece decided to host a quilt-in, and Quilting for the Constitution was born.

This creative, collaborative activism spoke to women across the country, and now hundreds have raised their voices. We sewed messages into powerful, purposeful quilts that our representatives can hold before their own eyes and in their own hands.

Through the fabric, our words will live on and become a record of our conviction and courage.

Thank you to all the women who have joined us, adding their distinct voices and diverse talents to stitch our hearts, our nation, and our Constitution together, peace by piece.
