Dear Senator Warner:
I am a resident of VA. I have been very concerned about the attack on federal agencies. It is probably true that some downsizing is needed to reduce the federal workforce, but by going in like a bull in a china shop, everything ends up getting destroyed in the process. If a person is sick for example, doctors take down a patients history, ask detailed questions about the symptoms, take various tests, perhaps do exploratory surgery if needed. They usually don't go in and rip out everything that they think might be the problem after hearing some cockeyed notions from a news talking head or from trolls on the internet.
I do not work for the federal government but I have relations and friends who do. They are professionals and serve with distinction no matter which party is in power.
I was disturbed to hear about the demolition of the USAID. Although some restructuring might help it run more efficiently, by immediately cutting all funds, shutting workers out of their communications systems and putting them on leave or firing them is causing a lot of pain, suffering and distrust within our country and our allies.
Musk is an unelected billionaire, with no security clearance. He has business interests in many places in the world, which also causes a serious conflict of interest. He seems to be taking power unto himself at the expense of the American people, allowing him access to our private information. Safeguards for our private information seem to have disappeared. This is frightening.
Thank you for taking my concerns into consideration. I hope you will stand up against this terrible abuse of power!
Sincerely,
Sue, VA
