Dear Senator Hickenlooper,

I am a senior American citizen, a grandmother, retired RN and a member of Mormon Women for Ethical Government. I am very disturbed over the chaos, hatred, and criminality that I am seeing with this new president and his followers.

These unprecedented and rushed executive orders are not what our country is about or how our country and our democracy was laid out to be by our founding fathers. Where are our checks and balances in our government to protect us from evil and revengeful political figures who do not represent me or the majority of true Americans? I resent paying taxes to support this type of governing. I resent their hatred and their lack of compassion and morality. I resent their lies that distort important truths. They are not true Americans.

I want to see a government that cares about my grandchildren and all children that they will have clean air and water and environmental protections against those who are only interested in wealth and power. I want a government that protects the health of all children with trust in the scientists and life saving vaccinations. My husband suffered polio as a child before polio vaccinations were available. We believe in vaccines. I want to see a compassionate government that respects the God given human rights of ALL people. My grandparents were immigrants and they made many great contributions to their communities. I love immigrants and I rebuke those who only express hatred for our immigrants.

For those elected officials who govern with truth, respect and compassion, I thank you. I pray that God will give you the strength and courage to stand against the corruption in our beloved country.
