About the event

As America marks its 250th anniversary, Women Building Peace presents Becoming America, a reception in Washington, DC marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness have never been self-executing. Every generation has been called to do the work of carrying them forward. This evening is our answer to that call.

Becoming America is an evening of art, reflection, and civic participation centered on the question at the heart of our campaign: My Hope for America. The event features a curated exhibition of 30 works submitted through an open call, reflecting a range of perspectives from artists across the United States on our country's present moment and its future.
