Share your hope for America through art!

As our country approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we’re calling on artists and makers across the country to share their hope for America’s future through original visual artwork.

The prompt is simple:

My hope for America is…

  • Fiber art, embroidery, needlework

  • Paintings or drawings

  • Mixed media or collage

  • Paper, print, or text-based visual work

*Work must meet the sizing guidelines outlined at the bottom of this page

Your work might reflect:

  • What we feel called to protect

  • What we believe we can build together

Section 1: About You

Host a Postcard Party

Welcome! We’re so glad you’re here. Our new postcard campaign, Pen Your Power, connects family, friends, and neighbors to advocate together for meaningful change.

Our goal is to flood congressional offices with personal messages urging members of Congress to uphold the Constitution and its protections of due process, human dignity, checks and balances, and freedom of speech

Inspired by the movements that came before us, this grassroots campaign recognizes that lasting change is often created in living rooms, libraries, and around kitchen tables. Each postcard carries the power of our collective voices forward, turning hope into change.

Let’s pick up our pens and write with purpose!

Becoming America: Honoring the Past, Creating the Future

*Size & Display Considerations

We welcome a wide range of creative work, including large or multi-part pieces. However, due to space, weight, and installation limitations, not all accepted works can be displayed physically.

Please note:

  • Physical artworks must be shippable using standard carriers.

  • If a piece exceeds size or weight limits once packed for shipping, Women Building Peace may opt to display a high-quality image or digital representation of the work instead of the physical piece.

  • Works that can be folded, rolled, or packed compactly (such as quilts, fiber works, or textiles) are welcome, even if their displayed size is large.

  • Extremely heavy, rigid, or installation-based works (for example, large sculptures or statues) may be accepted for digital display only.

As a general reference, physical works that can be packed to approximately 36 x 36 x 12 inches and under 50 lbs are most feasible for physical display.

(We will contact artists directly if a piece raises logistical questions.)
